Despite macro-economic tensions\, both recreational and business travel was experiencing steady growth around the world\, fueled by low prices\, more accessible information about destinations\, and increasing disposable income in the developing world. But by March\, the COVID-19 pandemic had changed everything and the travel and hospitality activity came to a grinding halt.\n\nWhile the process of re-opening after a long shutdown has begun\, progress has been slow and with government subsidies running out\, the industry is even more challenged\, with no clear short-term relief in sight.  The COVID-19 crisis will continue to profoundly impact how hospitality and travel-related businesses operate in Florida\, the United States\, Europe and across the globe.\n\nThe EACC Florida invites you to sit down to its Table-Topics to discuss some of the key issues affecting this industry and share ideas about how the industry is addressing its many current challenges. During this EACC Florida event\, participants will have the opportunity to join any two of eight Table-Topics\, interactive moderated conversations among small groups of industry colleagues from around the world.\n\nJoin the discussion and start networking!\n\nPROGRAM SCHEDULE\n10.00 AM – 10.10 AM EDT I 3.00 PM – 3.10 PM CET                        Welcome and explanation of the format\n\n10.10 AM – 10.40 AM EDT I 3.10 PM – 3.40 PM CET                        Table-Topics Session 1\n\n10.40 AM – 10.45 AM EDT I 3.40 PM – 3.45 PM CET                       Transfer to Session 2\n\n10.45 AM – 11.15 AM EDT I 3.45 PM – 4.15 PM CET                         Table-Topics Session 2\n\n11.15 AM – 11.25 AM EDT I 4.15 PM – 4.25 PM CET                          Conclusions\n\n \n\nWhat are table-topics?\n\nTable-topics are interactive conversations about general themes of interest to the travel and hospitality industry facilitated by a moderator. At the conclusion of the event\, participants will be offered the opportunity to have EACC connect you with anyone who attended your session.\n\nThere will be 4 concurrent 30-minute table-topic discussions in each time slot and participants will be able to participate in 2 table-topics during the program.\n\nHow do I register?\n\nHave a look at the table-topic descriptions and select your 1st and 2nd choice for each session during the Registration process. You will only be able to participate in 1 table-topic per session. Table-topics will be filled on a first-come first-served basis.\n\nWhat happens on the day of the event?\n\nOn the day of the event\, after the introductory remarks\, you will automatically be placed in the room of your 1st or 2nd choice table topic. At the conclusion of the first session\, after a short break in the main room\, you will automatically be placed in the room of your second table-topic (1st or 2nd choice).\n\n \n\n \nTABLE-TOPIC DESCRIPTIONS\nSession 1 – 10.10 AM – 10.40 AM I 3.00 PM – 3.10 PM CET              \n\nTT-1 –       A Deep Dive into the Future of Luxury and its Intersection with Travel\n\n\nDespite macro-economic tensions\, travel had been growing across the world fueled by cheap transportation costs and a growing global middle class with increased disposable incomes. At the same time\, new and innovative technologies are increasingly finding their way into the transportation industries. Many of the innovative tools deployed and ideas being explored initially focused on efficiency gains and building an individualized passenger experience. SUMMARY:Building The 21st Century Workforce With Innovative Apprenticeships
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Pre-Pandemic studies have shown that in the United States there will be a shortage of 3.4 million workers in the next 10 years. This number might be exacerbated by the COVID-19 crisis on the US economy and the medium-to-long term effects of school and college closures and distance-learning on America’s future workforce. Advanced manufacturing is already confronted to an underqualified workforce and hundreds of thousands of unfulfilled jobs. Looking to the world-class benchmark standards of the dual education systems in Germany\, Switzerland and Austria\, which blend academic theory with practical hands-on learning\, apprenticeship programs are increasingly part of the work-force development solution in the United States in particular in the high-tech industries. From the Space Coast of Florida to the manufacturing hubs of Ohio and The Carolinas\, hear from some of the world leaders in technical education and from global companies that have successfully integrated these innovative apprenticeship programs into their work-force development.\n\nThis program will be graced by the presence of the Consul General of Germany in Florida\, in honor of the German Presidency of the European Union.\n\n \n\nTopics for discussion\n\n Is implementing a German style apprentice program in the US difficult bearing in mind the differences between the US and German educational systems?\n What type of industries / companies are they most effective in?\n What does a “German-style” apprenticeship in the US look like?\n How do they differ with other types of apprenticeships?\n Which educational partners are necessary to make apprenticeships a success?\n What role do apprenticeships play in helping companies attract and retain a diverse workforce especially in the high-tech industries?\n\n \n\nPanelists:\n\n Andreas Siegel\, General Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for Florida – Miami (FL)\n Andreas Brockman\, Head of Technical Training and Education USA – Festo Didactic – Mason (OH)\n Robert Ellis\, HR Team Lead Supervisor Training and Apprenticeship – ZF Group – Gray Court (SC)\n Kai Schmidt\, Director Human Resources & Facilities – Airbus OneWeb Satellites and Chairman and Co-Founder of the SCCAP – Merritt Island (FL)\n Todd Schwartz\, Executive Director EACC Cincinnati – Moderator\n\nThis program is brought to you by:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”33084″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://eacc-carolinas.com”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”33083″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https://eacc-cincinnati.com”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”33082″ img_size=”full” onclick=”custom_link” link=”https://eaccfl.com”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Speaker Bios:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”33087″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Andreas Brockmann started with FESTO in Cincinatti in June 2017 as the Head of Technical Training & Education\, U.S. He previously worked in the Engineering Division at York Technical College in Rock Hill\, SC as the Department Chair in Industrial Maintenance Technology\, Mechatronic & Welding. SUMMARY:What are the legal FDI implications of COVID-19 in Europe and the U.S.
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This EACC webinar is brought to you by the EACC New York. \n\nCOVID-19 has not only significantly slowed down social life\, but economies as well. All over the world\, competition authorities have felt the need to temporarily adjust their regulations and tighten their scrutiny. They have to balance between protecting the nation’s economy and stimulating recovery\, while still allowing for collaboration and cross-border trade and investments. The Foreign Direct Investment regulations in Europe are seeing exemptions in certain forms of cooperation\, allowing state aids under certain conditions\, but also increased restrictions in acquisitions to avoid ailing firms to fall into foreign hands. \n\nIn the U.S.\, COVID-19 has affected and will continue to affect examinations of foreign investment into the United States by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). In particular\, the pandemic may lead to additional scrutiny of foreign investments in the U.S. health\, biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. In addition\, debt restructuring transactions and opportunities to invest in distressed assets will probably be on the rise. Both foreign investors and lenders should assess if these transactions may be within the jurisdiction of CFIUS and\, if so\, whether a filing must or should be made. \n\nOur panel will discuss: \n\n● Overview of the various rules related to FDI [EU] and CFIUS [U.S.] \n\n● Recent COVID-19 related changes – Expanding the list of relevant sectors – Including acquisitions in sectors other than Defense and Security (EU) – Expanding the list of notifiable transactions \n\n● Interactions with EU Regulation on FDI \n\nSPEAKERS: \n\n● Francesco Maria Salerno\, Partner\, GIANNI\, ORIGONI\, GRIPPO\, CAPPELLI & PARTNERS \n\n● Jeanine McGuinness\, Partner\, ORRICK \n\n● Jonathan Shames\, Global Client Service Partner\, PE & Geostrategic Business Group\, EY [Moderator] \n\nREGISTRATION FEE: This webinar is free of charge for EACCNY members and EACCNY non-members. SUMMARY:Trade Disputes\, Steel\, Bags and Wine: how the US tariffs are impacting transatlantic trade
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In 2018\, the US set import tariffs on steel and aluminum from China and the EU. In 2019\, further tariffs were imposed on EU goods such as wine\, cheese\, motorcycles\, luxury items. On July 16\, 2020\, in reaction to France’s plan to impose a Digital Service Tax on e-commerce companies\, the United States Trade Representative threatened to impose additional duties of 25% as of January 2021 on products from France such as handbags\, make-up and soap.
