SUMMARY:WEBINAR I Quarterly EU Economic Update for 2024 Converging on a Soft Landing
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Join EACCNY for an in-depth analysis of the European economy and the newly released Autumn 2023 Economic Forecast.\n\nThe US economy has grown faster than the European Union’s for the past five quarters. There are a variety of reasons for the discrepancy in performance between the EU and the US\, including the trade and resulting energy price shock in Europe prompted by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine; fiscal policy and the lingering effects of pandemic era stimulus programs; as well labor market dynamics.\n\nThe latest forecast shows that the third quarter may have marked the peak of this growth divergence\, as US economic growth accelerated while GDP in Europe held steady. Yet US growth is projected to slow over the course of next year\, while in the EU growth is set to pick up.\n\nThe panel will discuss the recent economic data and public policy developments through mid-November and weigh the prospects for European and global growth\, interest rates\, inflation\, budget deficits\, the state of transatlantic and global sovereign debt developments\, and energy prices in the context of increasing geo-political risks.\n\n \n\nSPEAKERS:\n\n Ben Carliner\, Senior Economist\, DELEGATION of the EU to the U.S.\n Maddalena Perretti\, Economist – Advisor\, ECB REPRESENTATION to the U.S.\n Yvonne Bendinger-Rothschild\, Executive Director\, EACCNY [Moderator]\n\nTIME:\n1:00 – 2:00 PM ET | 19:00h – 20:00h CET\n\n\nREGISTRATION FEE:\nEACC Members: Free\nEACC non-Members: Free\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\nEvent organized in partnership with:\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
