DESCRIPTION:The coronavirus pandemic has impacted companies around the world and caused major supply chain disruption. Our experts will analyze the effects on demand patterns and supply chain management globally and which of the new routines are here to stay.\n\nBesides the pandemic\, new geopolitical realities also have their effect on global supply chains. Trade and tariffs have become a tool of a larger foreign policy context\, and sale of\, or access to critical components has become the focus of security concerns.\n\nAll these factors drive the need to changing the nature of supply chains. To succeed we need to better understand the key drivers of change and disruption is step one. DESCRIPTION:Under the Biden administration\, Americans and Europeans need to rebuild as close a transatlantic relationship as possible. Transatlantic partners may have different viewpoints on some specific trade issues. But both sides have much to gain by moving forward trade negotiations in many areas and intensifying the closest trade relationship there is between any two big markets in the world.\n\nWhat is needed is no less than an ambitious trade agenda\, for modernising the WTO so that it can be relevant to today’s problems\, for a new agenda for market access\, securing a level playing field in the face of market-distorting subsidies by actors that follow a different economic and strategic philosophy than Europe and America\, and for sectoral transatlantic agreements in areas like professional recognition of qualifications\, freedom of Movement\, and types of trade in services not covered by the WTO’s “essentially all trade” requirement for agreements.\n\nThe COVID-19 crisis has ushered in a paradigm shift in our thinking about supply chains. He spent a term at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva\, Switzerland and completed the Mastering Trade Policy program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.\n\nRyan Evans\n\nRyan Evans serves as the Senior Trade Policy Advisor for the British Consulates General in Atlanta and Miami.  Covering the seven Southeastern states\, she promotes the British government’s international trade policy objectives\, including the completion of a comprehensive UK-US Free Trade Agreement.\n\nEvans previously worked for Georgia’s Senator Johnny Isakson from 2009-2019. Evi joined the delegation in September 2019 after four years at the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). Prior to joining ITI\, Evi worked on the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee (TPCC) at the U.S. Department of Commerce\, where she worked on a variety of federal agency trade promotion programs and initiatives\, including the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP). Advanced manufacturing is already confronted to an underqualified workforce and hundreds of thousands of unfulfilled jobs. Looking to the world-class benchmark standards of the dual education systems in Germany\, Switzerland and Austria\, which blend academic theory with practical hands-on learning\, apprenticeship programs are increasingly part of the work-force development solution in the United States in particular in the high-tech industries. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This EACC webinar is brought to you by the EACC New York. \n\nCOVID-19 has not only significantly slowed down social life\, but economies as well. All over the world\, competition authorities have felt the need to temporarily adjust their regulations and tighten their scrutiny. They have to balance between protecting the nation’s economy and stimulating recovery\, while still allowing for collaboration and cross-border trade and investments. The Foreign Direct Investment regulations in Europe are seeing exemptions in certain forms of cooperation\, allowing state aids under certain conditions\, but also increased restrictions in acquisitions to avoid ailing firms to fall into foreign hands. \n\nIn the U.S.\, COVID-19 has affected and will continue to affect examinations of foreign investment into the United States by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). In particular\, the pandemic may lead to additional scrutiny of foreign investments in the U.S. health\, biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. In addition\, debt restructuring transactions and opportunities to invest in distressed assets will probably be on the rise. SUMMARY:Trade Disputes\, Steel\, Bags and Wine: how the US tariffs are impacting transatlantic trade
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In 2018\, the US set import tariffs on steel and aluminum from China and the EU. In 2019\, further tariffs were imposed on EU goods such as wine\, cheese\, motorcycles\, luxury items. On July 16\, 2020\, in reaction to France’s plan to impose a Digital Service Tax on e-commerce companies\, the United States Trade Representative threatened to impose additional duties of 25% as of January 2021 on products from France such as handbags\, make-up and soap.
