The declared goals are to simplify the process; generate additional revenue to further the President’s agenda of reducing the overall U.S. deficit; address fraud. No further details were provided. For now\, the EB-5 program remains untouched but the announcement has raised questions about its impact on the EB-5 program and on foreign investors from Europe and beyond looking to establish businesses in the U.S.\n\nJoin us for an update on the “Gold Card” proposal and a discussion on how to navigate any uncertainties raised by this announcement.\n\nThe program will also discuss what the EB-5 industry can expect from a second Trump Presidency. Will the President’s general vision for a merit-based immigration system result in a more streamlined pathway to residency? Will his emphasis on deregulation streamline processes for foreign investors looking to establish businesses in the U.S with tax cuts and less red tape?\n\nTOPICS FOR DISCUSSION\n\n What is the EB-5 Program?\n What is the proposed “Gold Card” program and what could its impact be?\n Who typically invests in the EB-5 Program?\n What are the prospects for EB-5 growth and continuity under the new Administration?\n What EB-5 challenges may lie ahead: processing delays and stricter scrutiny\n What are the tax considerations and filings requirements once EB5 visa is obtained?\n Is there a ripple effect between the EB5- program and H-1B\, opportunities and challenges?\n What does the promise of smart\, merit-based immigration mean?\n Deregulation\, tax cuts and DOGE: are these advantages for those considering EB5?\n What are the tax incentives under the new administration related to real estate?\n\n\n \n\nSPEAKERS\n\n Leandro Barbuscio\, International Tax Principal – Kaufman Rossin [Moderator]\n Scott Bettridge\, Chair Immigration Practice – Cozen O’Connor\n Andrea Devis-Focke\, Director\, Investor Relations – EB5 Capital\n Makiel Morciego\, Director Federal International Tax – Kaufman Rossin\n\nEVENT SCHEDULE\n\n 9.00 AM – 9.30 AM:       Arrivals & Registration\n 9.30 AM – 10.30 AM:     Program\n 10.30 AM – 11.00 AM:   Networking\n\nLOCATION\n\nKaufman Rossin\n3310 Mary Street\nMiami\, FL 33133\n\nREGISTRATION FEE\n\n EACC Member: Free\n Guest with Promo Code: Free\n EACC Non-Member: $30\n Remote Participation: Free\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\nREMOTE REGISTRATION\n\nSPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES\n\nLeandro BARBUSCIO\n\nLeandro Barbuscio leads Kaufman Rossin’s international business services practice. SUMMARY:Members & Invitation Only I EACC Florida Transportation\, Logistics & Customs Meeting
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]The global supply chain is susceptible to various threats\, including terrorism\, and cyber-attacks\, so many countries worldwide have created voluntary supply chain security programs. Participating in these programs demonstrates a commitment to improving cargo security practices and ensuring shipments’ integrity. To that effect\, the US created the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT). In exchange for demonstrating a secure supply chain\, participants enjoy many benefits\, including a reduction in customs exams.\n\nJoin us at the beautiful Blue Lagoon offices of Pernod Ricard on February 26 for an update on key features of CTPAT including benefits for participants and a discussion about best practices.\n\nIf you are an importer\, exporter\, customs broker\, carrier\, consolidator\, or otherwise involved in international trade\, this meeting is for you!\n\nTOPICS FOR DISCUSSION\n\n The evolution of CTPAT’s human rights due diligence requirements\n Supply chain mapping – the value add for CTPAT compliance and beyond (think UFLPA\, disruption resilience\, etc)\n CTPAT as a vehicle to prompt positive bias from government regulators\n\nEXPERT SPEAKER\n\n Shawn Harwood\, Trade Investigations Specialist – Squire Patton Boggs\n\nEVENT SCHEDULE\n\n11.30 am – 12.00 pm: Arrivals/registration\n12.00 pm – 1.30 pm: Presentation & discussion\n1.30 pm – 2.00pm: Lunch & networking\n\nLOCATION\n\nExact location to be communicated to confirmed guests only.\n\nFor details on how to receive an invitation\, please contact Christina Sleszynska at csleszynska@eaccfl.com\n\nSPEAKER BIO\n\nShawn Harwood is a nationally recognized trade investigations specialist in Squire Patton Bogg’s International Trade & Foreign Investment Practice\, based in Washington DC. His broad expertise supports the practice’s work in regulatory investigations\, including customs compliance and sanctions\, trade and government contract disputes\, and international partnerships.\n\nShawn’s unique background offers clients critical support in addressing issues related to export control policies and regulations\, antidumping/countervailing duties\, and enhancing white collar and trade investigations. He also works with clients to develop supply chain risk mitigation strategies and implement compliance and due diligence programs.\n\nShawn served as a career special agent and international attaché with US Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). After retiring from government service in 2023\, he founded a consultancy specializing in supply chain risk management\, human rights due diligence and customs regulatory compliance.\n\n——————————————\n\nWhy a dedicated Task Force?\n\nWith the second-largest foreign trade zone network in the U.S.\, Florida is home to 11\,500+ logistics and distribution establishments. The broader wholesale trade\, transportation\, and logistics industry accounts for over 67\,000+ establishments and employs more than half a million individuals across the state. Evolving geopolitics\, recurring supply chain disruptions\, the “greening” of the industry and increasing regulatory requirements are impacting global trade and it is expected that trade will become less global and more regionalized with a renewed focus on the Transatlantic Corridor – North America\, Latin America and Europe.\n\nWhile there are a number of entities and professional groups – federal\, State and local – that serve these industries and their professionals to advance their interests\, few if any have a transatlantic focus or specifically serve European companies and professionals from these industries present in Florida. And whereas specific know-how and expertise represent a competitive advantage for any company\, the issues confronted by the sector are the same for all.\n\nEACC Florida’s Task Force is loosely inspired from a similar TF run by EACC Auvergne-Rhone-Alps: https://eacc-ra.com/task-forces/.\n\nMission: to bring together active professionals who understand the benefits of sharing best practices across industries\, ensuring that there is no silo thinking.\n\nRole: to organize meetings on a regular basis to address strategic issues\, share findings and best practices and make mutual recommendations for improvement in a given sector of activity. Chatham House rules or any other confidentiality rule might be used to allow for open exchange during the meetings.\n\nTask Force Members: representatives of EACC Florida Member companies with interests in the transportation/logistics industry invited to serve on the Task Force.\n\nIf you wish to receive further details about the Task Force\, please contact Christina Sleszynska at csleszynska@eaccfl.com\n\nMany thanks to our Task Force Members![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”35959\,36190\,35975\,35968″ css=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Fireside Chat I Tech Policy in the EU and US under Trump 2.0 - Regulatory Challenges & Business Opportunities for the Industry
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]REGISTRATIONS ARE CLOSED\n\nOn January 20\, 2025\, President Donald Trump issued the “America First Trade Policy” memorandum\, outlining a comprehensive strategy to prioritize American economic and national security interests – including in the tech industry -and representing a radical shift from policies under the Biden Administration.\n\nYet\, continued collaboration between the E.U. and the U.S. is more important than ever due to a combination of competition from non-market economies and a lack of capacity in three key geo-strategic areas: telecommunications\, semiconductor manufacturing\, and critical minerals and raw materials. These areas are the basic building blocks of many of the products and services the United States and EU nations use across a variety of sectors\, including for the operation of critical infrastructure\, the manufacturing of medical devices\, and numerous military applications.\nUS Big Tech is ready for Trump 2.0. But what about the E.U.? And what about US Medium-Sized Tech? \nJoin us on February 13 with guest-speaker Johannes Bahrke\, Digital Counselor at the EU Delegation to the United States\, in conversation with tech C-Suite Executives for an open discussion about challenges and opportunities for the tech industry in Florida and on both sides of the Atlantic under the new Trump Administration.\n\nAnd after the program\, join us for a Networking Reception to celebrate EACC Florida’s 5th Anniversary.\n\nTOPICS FOR DISCUSSION\n\n EU-U.S. relations\, China and “Tech Sovereignty” – what is the current landscape\, how is it being perceived and what does it really mean in an inter-connected world?\n Why are supply chain resilience\, standard-setting in new technologies\, and ethical considerations in tech deployment so crucial?\n How could the imposition of tariffs disrupt supply chains\, increase costs for tech companies\, and influence the availability and pricing of technology products in both the EU and the US?\n What is the status of the EU AI Act\, the Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act and how will they play out in this new transatlantic environment?\n What was the role for the EU-US Technology & Trade Council established under the Biden Presidency. How was the tech industry involved and will it be replaced? To do what?\n How can the E.U. bridge differing transatlantic views to ensure collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence\, 5G\, and cybersecurity?\n What are the challenges and opportunities in handling transatlantic data flows and privacy concerns in the Trump 2.0 world?\n\nSPEAKERS\n\n Johannes BAHRKE\, Digital Counselor – EU Delegation to the United States\n Dr. Victor LOZINSKI\, Co-founder and Chairman of the Board – LeverX\n Alan SUTIN\, Senior Chair\, Global Intellectual Property & Technology Group – Greenberg Traurig\, and President – EACC Florida [Moderator]\n\nEVENT SCHEDULE\n\n3.00 PM – 3.30 PM:     Arrivals & Registration\n3.30 PM – 4.45 PM:     Program\n5.00 PM – 7.00P PM:  EACC Florida Anniversary Reception\n\nLOCATION\n\nGreenberg Traurig\n333 SE 2nd Avenue – Suite 4400\nMiami\, FL 33131\n\nREGISTRATION FEE\n\nEACC Member:                 Free\nGuest with Promo Code: Free\nEACC Non-Member:       $30\n\n \n\nSPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES\n\nJohanes BAHRKE is Counsellor for Digital Policy at the EU Delegation to the United States in Washington DC since August 2024. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\n\n\nUnder the incoming second Trump administration\, the United States is expected to adopt a more protectionist trade policy\, increasing tariffs on imports\, particularly from China. SUMMARY:MEMBERS & INVITATION ONLY I EACC Florida's Transportation\, Logistics & Customs Task Force Meeting
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Join us for the second Meeting of EACC Florida’s Task Force Transportation\, Logistics & Customs.\n\nIf you are an active professional in these industries and understand the benefits of sharing best practices across industries ensuring that there is no silo thinking\, this event is for you!\n\nWhile there are entities and professional groups – federal\, State and local – that serve the transportation\, logistics & customs industries and their professionals to advance their interests\, few if any have a transatlantic focus or specifically serve European companies and professionals from these industries present in Florida. And whereas specific know-how and expertise represent a competitive advantage for any company\, the issues confronted by the sector are the same for all.\n\nThe topic of the second Task Force meeting is: Customs & Tariffs: what to expect after the US elections?\n\nOur interactive discussion will be facilitated by Mark LUDWIG\, National Trade Services Leader at RSM US and a recognized expert in supply chain and international trade matters\, such as customs valuation\, trade agreements\, classification\, origin and preferential programs.\n\nTOPICS FOR DISCUSSION\n\n Prospects for status quo or radical shifts in US trade policy\n Which product categories will see tariff increases\n Opportunities to reduce landed costs through proactive tariff planning\n\nSPEAKER\n\n Mark LUDWIG\, National Trade Services Leader – RSM US\n\nEVENT SCHEDULE\n\n11.30 AM – 12.00 PM:   Arrivals & Registration\n12.00 PM – 1.00 PM:     Program\n1.00 PM – 2.00 PM:       Lunch & Networking\n\nLocation to be communicated to registered attendees only.\n\nFor details on how to receive an invitation\, please contact Christina Sleszynska at csleszynska@eaccfl.com\n\n \n\nSPEAKER BIOGRAPHY\n\nMark LUDWIG heads RSM’s Trade Advisory Services in the United States\, where he assists corporations to structure\, establish and execute compliant and cost-effective sourcing\, manufacturing and distribution operations. Leading global teams to support clients in the design and implementation of strategies\, processes\, controls and programs\, Mark serves as a catalyst for reduced operating costs\, managed risk and sustained performance excellence in cross-border activities.\n\nWith direct experience across major industries and regions\, Mark helps companies to effectively address and navigate through myriad complex global supply chain and trade matters including Export Administration Regulations\, Sec. 301 and 232 tariffs\, customs valuation and classification\, trade agreements\, origin and preferential programs.\n\nMark is a recognized expert and has been a trusted advisor to hundreds of large and mid-sized businesses around the world for over 25 years. Prior to RSM\, he was a partner with a Big Four firm leading the customs and international trade practice as well as founder of his own consultancy. More recently\, he held executive management roles in several multinational corporations\, serving as Senior Vice President/Global Head of Supply Chain Operations at Bloomberg LP\, and Senior Director of Global Trade & Logistics at LVMH/Tiffany & Co.\n\nProfessional affiliations and credentials\n\n U.S. Customs Broker License\, U.S. Bureau of Customs & Border Protection\n Logistics\, Transportation & Distribution Certification\, Association for Supply Chain Management\n Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)\n National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association (NCBFAA)\n European American Chamber of Commerce\n\nEducation\n\n Master of Supply Chain Management\, Penn State University\n Master of Arts\, University of Miami\n Certificado Posgrado\, Universidad Complutense de Madrid\n\n——————————————\n\nWhy a dedicated Task Force?\n\nWith the second-largest foreign trade zone network in the U.S.\, Florida is home to 11\,500+ logistics and distribution establishments. Chatham House rules or any other confidentiality rule might be used to allow for open exchange during the meetings.\n\nTask Force Members: representatives of EACC Florida Member companies with interests in the transportation/logistics industry invited to serve on the Task Force.\n\nIf you wish to receive further details about the Task Force\, please contact Christina Sleszynska at csleszynska@eaccfl.com\n\n \nMany thanks to Task Force Members Clasquin USA\, Pernod Ricard\, RAF Solutions and RSM US for their support! \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”35959\,36190\,35975\,35968″ css=””][/vc_column][/vc_row]
