Geopolitics in Motion. Re-thinking your Strategy and Resources

April 18, 2024 I 4.00 pm - 6.30 pm I Coral Gables

After decades of relative stability, of globalization and market expansion, the war in Ukraine, the escalating tensions in the Middle East, decoupling from China, “friend-shoring”, “near-shoring” and a return to subsidized industrial policies in the United States and Europe, are raising new questions for companies on both sides of the Atlantic looking to grow internationally. What does it mean to be a company with a global outlook in today’s geopolitics? What should an expansion strategy for a mid-sized company look like? Where can companies find the talents they need to succeed in a new territory? Does size still matter? In order to expand internationally, how do you re-think your company’s resources and assets as a consequence of COVID, AI and in the light of our new geopolitical environment?

Join us on April 18th for a discussion on what “re-thinking your strategy and resources” means for mid-sized companies looking to grow internationally and to hear about the challenges and success stories of some companies that chose Florida as part of their internationalization strategy.

AI - Navigating Risk & Learning How to Use It

Whether in search of reduced costs, improved service or simply a sense of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), companies – large and small – are rapidly moving to adopt the increasingly powerful artificial intelligence business tools (“AI”) now available to them.

These companies are using AI both as a standalone technology for specialized use cases and/or embedding it within common enterprise software systems that handle core business processes.

These are precisely the issues which were discussed substantively and practically at the occasion of two programs held by EACC Florida in February.

On February 13, Evi Fuelle (Credo AI), Laura Juanes (Restaurant Brands International), Oleksii Yaremenko (LeverX) and David Zetoony (Greenberg Traurig) offered thought-provoking insights into the state of play (or lack thereof) of AI regulations in Europe, the United States and beyond, how companies are handling the transition to AI tools and most importantly how to manage and mitigate some of the risks associated with the adoption of AI in the still muddled regulatory waters.

The program titled “AI in Business – Navigating Risk in Adopting a Powerful but not Well-Understood Technology” was hosted by Greenberg Traurig and expertly moderated by Alan Sutin (Greenberg Traurig) and EACC Florida President.

On February 14, several EACC Florida Members & Friends gathered at LeverX Miami headquarters on Brickell Avenue for a Design Thinking Workshop titled “Empowering your Business with AI Capabilities”. The session featured a combination of interactive group activities and expert insights, employing tools like opportunity cards to stimulate brainstorming and real-world problem solving.

It was perfectly complementary to the substantive program on the previous day and an opportunity to develop an understanding of what AI can do beyond ChatGPT, what it cannot do and most importantly how it could help solve existing business problems. Our coaches – Natalya Rubakhava, Dmitry Novik and Siarhei Valenda – were outstanding. Many thanks to LeverX for hosting this event.

OECD I International Trade Statistics: trends in fourth quarter 2023. After several quarters of decline, G20 merchandise trade growth flattened in value terms in Q4 2023, as measured in current US dollars (Figure 1 and 2). There was little change in exports and imports compared to Q3 2023, as a robust recovery in East Asia was counterbalanced by a slowdown in Europe and North America. Export growth stagnated in the United States, with lower sales of automobiles being offset by higher sales of industrial supplies. In the European Union, exports were down by 0.6% driven by a decline in chemical products, while imports were down by 1.8%. Read more.
