Official EU Visit to Miami
|
|
EACC Florida looks forward to welcoming Brian Glynn, Managing Director for the Americas in the External Action Service (EEAS) and Ruth Bajada, Head of the U.S. and Canada Division in the EEAS at the European Commission in Brussels at the occasion of an official visit to Miami on October 6-7, 2022.
The primary purpose of this visit is to get a sense of the political outlook in the United States, and Florida in particular, in the run up to the midterm elections. Meetings are being set up with professionals and analysts from the business community, local authorities and Consular Corps to discuss how recent trends in the business community have impacted local politics - in particular recent business relocations from so called “blue” states in the U.S. like NY and CA to Florida.
For further information, contact Christina Sleszynska, Executive Director EACC Florida at [email protected].

IMF - Regulating Crypto. The spectacular, if volatile, growth in the market capitalization of crypto assets and their creep into the regulated financial system have led to increased efforts to regulate them. EU to Make Changes to Its Sustainability Reporting Rules and Impose New Obligations on Non-European Companies. EU law requires certain large companies to disclose non-financial information on the way they operate and manage social and environmental challenges. Arquímedes Rivero – Spanish American Baritone with a Diplomat’s Dream
“Life is granted to us. And we never know when it will be taken from us so take full advantage of what it offers.”
|
Arquímedes turned 18 in August 2022. He was born in Miami, grew up in Doral, and has a sister who is 7 years older who he is particularly close to. His father was born in Caracas (Venezuela) and is of Cuban descent. His mother is from the Canary Islands in Spain. Arquímedes has dual U.S. and Spanish citizenship, is perfectly bilingual, and is learning Italian and Portuguese. As a child, he regularly traveled to Venezuela and the Canary Islands to visit with relatives but has not returned to Venezuela since 2012. He visited Madrid and Barcelona for the first time in the summer of 2022.
Arquímedes takes after his grandfather, also named Arquímedes, who passed away in 2021 and was known as the “tsar of the Venezuelan soap operas”. Young Arquímedes loves the arts, music, dance and the theater. He likes to sing opera (he is a baritone) and to tell stories. He graduated Cum Laude from the Doral Performing and Entertainment Academy in June 2022 where he studied theater.
During the Pandemic, Arquímedes became involved in several organizations to encourage young voter registrations and also worked on the Biden Campaign. His true passion, however, lies in history, the relations between countries, how they interconnect, and he is particularly interested in how the E.U. came about. He is currently a Freshman at the Miami Dade Honors College studying International Relations and Economics and hopes to transfer to the University of Cambridge in the UK, Georgetown University, or the University of Pennsylvania at the end of his Sophomore Year.
Unsurprisingly, Arquímedes hopes to become a Diplomat.
