May 9, 2023 – Europe Day – marked a special day underlying the strong relations between Miami Dade County and the European Union. For the first time, the EU Flag was raised together with the Miami Dade County Flag during a ceremony held at Government Center in Miami. Miami Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine-Cava, Oliver G. Gilbert, III, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, and Ruth Emmerink, Consul General of the Netherlands and Chair of the local EU Presidency in Miami, presided the ceremony also attended by the Consul Generals or Vice-Consuls for Florida of France, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Romania.
The event was hosted by Miami-Dade County International Trade Consortium (ITC) at the initiative of Ruth Emmerink, Consul General of the Netherlands.
EACC Florida was honored to be on the guest-list and was represented by Executive Director Christina Sleszynska.
