MEMBERS & INVITATION ONLY – UK Tech for Logistics Trade Mission to Miami I Why Florida? Seminar and Reception

The UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is leading a group of UK tech in logistics companies and start-ups to Miami on October 23-25, 2024 with the objective of connecting these companies that specialize in logistics to relevant stakeholders and buyers in Miami.

EACC Florida will hold a “Why Florida? What Business Leaders Need to Know When Considering Expanding into the US/Florida” seminar for the group on October 24. The Seminar will be followed by a Networking Reception open to Members and Invited Guests.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHIES

Bénédicte BOUTROUILLE  is a seasoned legal immigration expert with a global perspective, deeply influenced by her own immigrant journey from Martinique in the French West Indies. At Fakhoury Global Immigration (FGI), an award-winning boutique law firm specializing in business-based immigration across more than 180 countries, she focuses on employment-based immigration petitions, particularly the EB-1A Extraordinary Ability and EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) categories. Bénédicte has dedicated her career to helping high-skilled professionals and entrepreneurs from around the world find viable paths to live and work in the U.S.

With extensive experience working in Miami, Paris, and Réunion Island, Bénédicte brings a wealth of knowledge to cross-Atlantic relations, especially as Florida emerges as a key tech hub. By honing in on the unique opportunities and challenges of South Florida’s growing tech scene, she ensures that FGI’s clients—from innovative startups to established tech companies—have the immigration solutions they need to expand their U.S. presence and build skilled workforces. For Bénédicte, this strategic focus is not just about adapting to the region’s growth but about directly helping companies and individuals realize their full potential in a rapidly evolving landscape.

 

Daniel DIAZ is Managing Partner at NOVUS INK Advisors, a management consulting firm specializing in reputation management, public affairs, and lobbying. In this role, he provides senior counsel to executive management teams with global operations.

Having served as Chief Communications Officer and Federal Lobbyist, roles in which he reported directly to CEOs, Díaz has advised firms during critical business periods, including mergers, divestitures, start-ups/IPOs, spinoffs, business transformations, brand repositioning, executive management changes, and expansion into new markets or countries. His experience spans consumer, B2B, fintech, financial services, telecommunications, and IT sectors.

Díaz began his career at the United Nations and holds a Master’s in International Relations from St. John’s University, with executive education from Harvard Law School, the University of South Carolina Moore School of Business, the University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business, Wharton, and Columbia Business Schools.

 

John OWENS, III is a Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig and focuses his practice on four key areas: (1) representing investors that finance and/or acquire growth stage and emerging companies, including venture capital firms, family offices, private equity firms and other corporate investors, (2) assisting entrepreneurs, early stage businesses, and emerging businesses in assessing, strategically planning, and managing their overall legal needs as they progress through critical periods of growth and challenge, (3) representing hedge funds, family offices, and other alternative investment funds in their direct capital market transactions with public companies, and (4) providing general counsel regarding compliance with federal securities laws.

John also provides guidance and transactional support to entrepreneurs, executive management and boards of privately held and public companies in relation to corporate governance practices, including public disclosure requirements, as well as conducting securities offerings and raising capital, national exchange uplistings, and negotiating and documenting corporate and commercial transactions. His experience includes seed and venture capital financings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, public offerings, and transactional work in various industries, including FinTech, medical technology, media, international shipping and parcel delivery, e-sports, e-commerce, financial services, health care, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, beverages, opportunity zones, hospitality, sports, music, reality television, and entertainment. John also advises on cross-border transactions, including assisting foreign companies investing in ventures and conducting business in the U.S., and representing domestic clients planning to engage in business abroad, particularly in emerging markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He enjoys building long standing relationships with investors and companies beginning at their earliest stages and assisting them through the development process.

 

Peter STRATOS is a principal in Kaufman Rossin’s International Tax department where he provides extensive knowledge to his clients on international tax planning for both individual and corporate taxes. Peter’s primary expertise in international tax is in the areas of foreign tax credit planning, residency issues, state and local issues for international and multinational businesses, expats and inpats, pre-immigration planning, transfer pricing, compensation planning, treaty positions, entity selection, organizational structuring and withholding issues.

Peter is a Certified Public Accountant in Florida and Virginia. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Public Accountants and the Virginia Society of Public Accountants. Peter is also a Member of the Board of Directors of EACC Florida and serves as Treasurer.

 

 

Alan SUTIN is a Principal Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig and Senior Chair of the firm’s Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. Alan is an experienced business lawyer with a principal focus on commercial transactions with intellectual property and technology issues and privacy and cybersecurity matters. Alan also represents a wide variety of companies in connection with IT and business process outsourcing arrangements, strategic alliance agreements, commercial joint ventures and licensing matters. He has particular experience in Internet and electronic commerce issues and has been involved in many of the major policy issues surrounding the commercial development of the Internet. Alan has advised foreign governments and multinational corporations in connection with these issues and is a frequent speaker at major industry conferences and events around the world. Alan is involved in several professional and legal national and international organizations. He was an active Member of EACCNY and is EACC Florida’s first President.
