CAMILLA MAZZOCCHI – A Curious Italian Young Lady in Miami

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

Camilla turns 21 in January 2025. She was born in Rome (Italy). Her father was born in Bergamo in Northern Italy and spent a part of his youth in La Chaux de Fonds (Switzerland). Her mother is Colombian from Bogota. She spent some time in Michigan and moved to Bergamo where she met her soon-to-be husband. Camilla has a 25-year-old sister and has dual Italian and US citizenship.

Her father is a high-level Executive in the pharma industry and when Camilla was 12, in 2016, the family moved to Miami as expats. While she had some difficulty in adjusting to Miami, its lifestyle, and the US high-school system, she graduated in 2021 at the top 11% of her class from Miami Palmetto High School in Pinecrest. She decided to attend FIU to stay close to her family and graduated in 2024 with a BA in International Relations and a Minor in the French Language and Culture.

Camilla became the President of her high-school’s Italian National Honor Society. One of her preferred projects was making a documentary about the history of film in Italy. She is considering going to Law School but is still undecided and is in the process of applying to a 7-month teacher assistant position in France (TAPIF). In the meantime, she has been doing internships – including as a Legal Intern at Cozen O’Connor, and currently as an HR Intern at Tuuci. Camilla’s biggest passions are cinema, literature, and baking, which she hopes to incorporate in whichever path her life will take.

Camilla is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and French and is well travelled. She regularly flies to Colombia to visit with her mother’s side of the family and returns to Italy once a year. She and her father agree that “the best food in the world is red wine risotto” but her favorite thing to do is to eat supplì in her favorite spot in Rome, Giardino degli Aranci.
