Consul General of Germany Christofer Burger and EACC Florida Executive Director Christina Sleszynska
EACC Florida was honored to be on the guest list of Germany’s new Consul General in Florida Christofer Burger at a beautiful and well-attended reception held at the Biltmore Hotel on October 3rd, 2023. The occasion was the Day of German Unity, which commemorates German reunification in 1990 when the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany were reunited into a single German State for the first time since 1945.
In a geo-political speech, the Consul General reminded us of the challenges our global community is facing and of the shared responsibility of the United States, EU, Germany and their allies in maintaining stability. The Consul General thanked Miami’s local community in English and Spanish for the warm welcome afforded to him and used the opportunity to remind his guests that Germany will be staging the UEFA European Soccer Championship in 2024.
Christofer Burger is a career diplomat who served in Nicaragua and Irak as well as in the Office of the Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS. He was appointed Consul General of Germany in Miami in August 2023. Before that he was Spokesperson of the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany
