Alexia Planos

Alexia Planos – Daughter of Cuban Immigrants with a Spanish Twist

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift, that’s why we call it present” – Ogway

Alexia turns 23 in August 2022. She was born and raised in Miami, has a sister who is 2 years older and comes from a family of Cuban immigrants. When still a child, her father moved from Cuba to Madrid with his parents where he acquired Spanish citizenship. He lived in Mexico and Brazil before going to college in the US and eventually settling down in Miami. Her mother was born and raised in Miami. Alexia has dual US and Spanish citizenship and has on several occasions returned to Spain – namely Asturias and Galicia – to visit relatives and friends.

Alexia graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Honors College of Florida International University in 2020, receiving a B.B.A. in International Business and Marketing. During her studies, Alexia worked with Madewell as a Sales Associate, BBC Studios in Coral Gables as a Market Research Intern, and studied abroad in Paris, France, Beijing, China, and Seoul, South Korea. Alexia currently attends Emory University College of Law and will be graduating with a JD in the Spring of 2024. She is currently back in Miami for the summer working as a Law Clerk at EPGD Business Law.

Alexia is passionate about languages: she is fluent in English and Spanish and studied French at the Cours de Civilisation Francaise de la Sorbonne in Paris in the Spring of 2020. She cut short her stay in France to return to the US a day before the borders were shut down. She also learned some Mandarin while studying in China. She plays the piano daily and loves to cook and watch films. She feeds her passion for food and cinema by managing an Instagram account called food.and.movies.with.Alexia.
