Born and raised in Curaçao, Nicolás Filet moved to Miami with his family at age 12. With an Argentinian mother from Mendoza and a Dutch father from Amsterdam, he grew up embracing different cultures and languages. Fluent in English, Dutch, and Spanish, he is now learning German.
A 2025 graduate of MAST Academy in Key Biscayne, Nicolás is pursuing an Associate Degree in International Relations at the Honors College at Miami Dade College, with plans to complete a bachelor’s degree if scholarships allow. Otherwise, he intends to continue his education at a Florida public university to avoid debt.
Entrepreneurial from an early age, Nicolás founded a gazpacho business and later launched a T-shirt pop-up company. He also serves as Business Team Leader at the Historic Virginia Key Beach Trust and has volunteered with Zero Waste Company. HThis year, he placed 4th nationally in the Future Business Leaders of America competition for Business Management and was chosen as a fellow for the Global Citizen Seminar in Austria.
Outside of school and work, he enjoys fishing, playing tennis and rugby, and spending time with friends and family. Every few years, he visits Argentina—where he loves asado and the countryside— alternating with The Netherlands, where he looks forward to eating haring with bread and onions and enjoying some traditional drop.
As the FIFA World Cup unfolds across North America, including in Miami, Nicolás is watching closely. While he supports both Argentina and The Netherlands, he is especially proud to see Curaçao represented on football’s biggest stage. Watching the island where he was born compete against the world’s best fills him with immense pride.
